环形树屋地处大沙河生态长廊沿岸绿树掩映丛中，西侧紧临全长13公里的大沙河沿岸景观步道西丽段，北侧靠近儿童活动场地，东侧被密集的居住社区环绕。这座新增公共建筑的功能包括一座约300平米的儿童主题书房以及全天候对公园游客开放的公共卫生间，自2022年秋天起开始服务周边市民及来访游客。
The Serpentine Bookhouseis located amidstthe greenery of trees along the Dasha River Ecological Corridor. To its west, the 13-kilometerscenic pathway of the Ecological Corridor runs continuously,andthe north side is close to achildren’s park withenjoyable sand pits attractingmany family visitors,whilethe east side is surrounded by dense residential communities. The newly added public building includes a children’s readingroom of 300 square meters and a public restroom open to park visitors 24/7,servinglocalresidentsand visitorsstarting from the fall of 2022.

大沙河沿岸曾经的渔民传统赋予建筑设计师以“海螺”为原型的设计灵感。建筑宛若一座螺旋上升的艺术雕塑，把地面空间尽可能归还给植物生长和游客活动。盘旋形体的尽端以开敞阳台面向河岸公园，提供给游人一个在树梢高度休闲放松的场所，因此也被本地居民称为“环形树屋”。
The traditionsand folkloreof fishermen along the Dasha River inspired the architect with the designconcept of a“spiral conch”. The building performs like a rising spiralart sculpture, returningas much ground space as possible forplant growth and tourist activities. The end of the spiral volumefaces the riverside park with an open balcony, providing visitors with a place to relax at the height of the treetops. Therefore,it is named“Serpentine Bookhouse” by the locals.

顺应建筑体形，树屋的室内空间呈现为围绕着中庭树木螺旋上升的阅读阶梯，同时以环廊姿态遍览外侧公园风景。富有高差的阶梯式阅读空间可以释放孩子们的天性、激发好奇心和探索欲，培养他们自主学习的兴趣。滑滑梯于放学时段定时开放，将为空间活动增加趣味体验。

Following the exterior formof the building, the interior spacepresents itselfas a series of stepped reading spaces windingaround the trees in the atrium.At the same time, it offersa panoramic view ofthe park landscapethrough floor-to-ceiling windows. The stepped reading spaceswith rich height differencesprovide an opportunity for children to explore and satisfy their natural curiosity and cultivatetheir interest in independent learning. The slide is open to children every day after school, which will add a fun and exciting dimension to the space.

环形树屋具有挑战性的结构采用钢结构形式，内外圈采用螺旋形空腹桁架确定弧形形体，二层观景阳台的大悬挑位置则采用斜向拉索。所有结构构件在工厂加工完成后运至现场拼装，将现场施工对公园和居民生活的干扰降低到最小程度。
The challengingstructure of the building isachieved with steel framework. The inner and outer circles use spiral Vierendeel trusses to determine the arc shape, and the large cantilever of the viewing balcony on the second floor is supported byoblique tension enforcement.All major structural components are shipped to the site for assembly after prefabricationin the factory, minimizing the disturbance of the site construction to the park and nearby residents’ lives.

为应对深圳炎热的气候环境，建筑外立面采用了连续的竖向格栅作为遮阳装置，这也给室内空间带来了随时间变化的光影感受。同时在每一个阅读阶梯处都对应设置了可开启窗，并在二层阳台设置了可以全部打开的推拉门，以保证在秋冬季节仅凭自然通风可以达到满意的舒适度。
In response to the hot climate in Shenzhen, continuous vertical grilles are installed as sunshade devices on the facade of the building, which also brings a changing light and shadow experience to the interior space over time. Operable windowsare installed on each reading step, and on the second-floor balcony, sliding doorscan be fully openedto ensure natural ventilation and to achieve satisfactory comfort in autumn and winterseasons without using air conditioning.

环形树屋体现了近年来在深圳各级公园及公共空间营造中以新增小型公共建筑服务公共生活的城市活化策略。这一策略可以用相对小的投资体量和相对短的建设时间帮助公共建设项目及时准确落地服务公众。在设计、施工诸多单位的通力配合下，大沙河环形树屋项目从设计到施工完成投入使用仅用时不到1年时间。自开放以来，这里定期举办艺术展览和读书会，成为了周边市民游客——特别是孩子们喜爱的场所。
The Serpentine Bookhouse embodies the urban revitalization strategy that Shenzhen has beenpursuing in recent years. In the goal of adding small-scalecivic and culturalbuildings to serve public life in the parks and public spaces,this strategy helps public projects land in a timely and accurate manner with a relatively small investment and relatively short construction time. With the joint efforts between design and construction teams, the Dasha River Serpentine Bookhouseproject was completed and put into use in less than one year from design to construction. Since its opening, it regularly holds art exhibitions and reading clubs, thus becoming one of the favorite spotsfor urban dwellers and especially family visitors to escape from the stresses of urban life and to commune with nature and fellow cultural communities.
