nestled between the trees of a forest in gyunghi-do gapyung-gun, south korea, lies a new glamping resort designed by archiworkshop. set amid chestnut trees and the scenic valleys of a nearby mountain, the glamtree resort intends to leave guests feeling relaxed and rejuvenated by the healing power of nature. to create the ultimate forest experience for guests, the project is composed in two parts: an angular welcome center, and a series of leaf-inspired glamping pavilions.

when designing the project, archiworkshop took inspiration from the surrounding nature, and in particular the shape of leaves and pebbles in the forest. upon arriving at glamtree, guests will encounter a parking lot with stone walls stacked along the forest path, which were built using stones from the site. as they walk along this path, they will arrive at the welcome center that is embedded into the contours of the land.

thanks to its glazed façades, the roof canopy of the welcome center appears to float above the ground. archiworkshop designed the center in this way to allow direct views of the forest, making guests feel like they’re enveloped in nature, even from inside. the center of this building is formed with large terrace-like steps, which connect the welcome garden with the creek. the welcome center actively embraces the terrain of the land and intends to facilitate various experiences for guests.

inspired by leaves and pebbles, the glamping pavilions are arranged on small forest paths along the gentle slope of the forest, like veins of a leaf. the curved shapes of the pavilions create cozy internal spaces. large windows and an outdoor terrace let guests enjoy the surrounding nature, while large curtains also provide adequate privacy at night.
