brazilian architecture firm mf+arquitetos has completed a summer house for a family in rifaina, a municipality in the state of são paulo. the residence, known as the‘Q04L63 house’, is divided into two parts: 50% of the total area is used as communal space, accommodating the living and dining rooms, the swimming pool, and the steam room, while the other half is intended for more private areas, including the four bedrooms and a TV room.

the house is accessed via a door that pivots to serve as a distinctive entrance. mf+arquitetos positioned the more private areas of the home at the front of house, divided by a hall that provides access to all rooms as well as the shared living space at the rear of the property. throughout the home, the architects selected natural materials that lend the dwelling a welcoming and timeless quality.
in addition to the use of wood, sandy travertine marble extends across the floors and walls of the main hall, with black slate used for the bathrooms and countertops. meanwhile, concrete slabs and hijau stone make up the pool area. furniture by designers such as jader almeida and paulo alves has been carefully selected, while natural vegetation is found throughout the scheme. see more projects by mf+arquitetos on designboom here.
