neither a scooter nor motorbike
the BMW motorrad concept CE 02 envisions a more urban edition of the radical-looking CE 04 at IAA 2021. the electric motorcycle/scooter reveals a mini interpretation of smart single-track mobility that is ideal for stylish commuting. an output of 11 kw, top speed of 90 km/h and range of 90 km per charge boosts the concept.

two large-sized wheels make the novel character, robustness and riding fun of the BMW motorrad concept CE 02 immediately apparent. compact dimensions and youthful proportions add to this impression too: a long and narrow seat affirms a confident riding height, the flat body delivers a low center of gravity for dynamics, and a 120 kg weight keeps everything light. for the long seat, riders can choose, chop and change their position and also attach luggage using two cross-over elastic bands.

up top, the motorbike impresses with a square, black headlight with four distinctive LED elements. on the rear, two small, translucent LEDs are fixed on either side of the seat. cables and other technology, such as the drive belt, handlebar and fork placements, are deliberately left exposed to emphasize its urban spirit. the body shifts between black and silver in matt and high-gloss surfaces; the two battery units are darkened whilst silver accentuates other details. the overall restrained tones encourages riders to add their own individual character to the design – a mobile canvas for urban artwork, if they desire.
